Cheryl Prashker

Cheryl was born in Montreal, Canada, where she studied classical percussion at McGill University. During her ten-year stint as a member of the Yiddish Theatre of Montreal, Cheryl toured the US, Canada, Europe and Russia, then Norway, England and Scotland with the Lakeshore Concert Band. After that, she decided to let the world come to her for awhile - moved to New York City - and became percussionist extraordinaire for half the singer/songwriters in the Tri-State area, a handful of Middle Eastern belly dancers and a Klezmer band. How's that for diversity?

Since finishing The Ocean's Doorway, Cheryl has gone on to become a founding member of the acoustic quartet CC Railroad, thus bringing her music to an even wider audience with full instrumentation and vocal harmony. CC Railroad released their debut CD, Smile Whatever, on Elizabeth Records in December 2001 and their follow-up, Black Horse Motel, in the spring of 2004.
